Were Deleted Scenes a good call?

The Avengers: Age of Ultron movie was overall rated a good movie, but some of the problems that fans had the most were the additional subplots of the movie. Reviewers complained of the 'distracting' romance between Bruce Banner (The Hulk) and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), describing it as "confusing" and "unmoving". Viewers also found the discovery of Clint Barton (Hawkeye)'s family to be unnecessary, causing a shift in the movie as the heroes hid from a "not-so-good villain". The addition of little scenes in the movie were likely added to balance out the intense action of the movie, but they did not correspond with the main storyline of the movie. On the other hand, over a hundred minutes worth of potentially better scenes were already cut from this 2 hour and 21 minute long film.
There was a 195-minute cut of this movie. The original scene was that Thor went to speak to the Norn and how it would work was that he’d go in the pool and the Norn possess him, basically, and Erik Selvig asks all the questions, and the Norn, speaking through Thor, give the answers. So Chris [Hemsworth] got to do something different, and he really threw himself into it, and he did a beautiful job, but it wasn’t well regarded by the test audiences and I feel it’s probably largely because it was a rough cut with no effects, but also because it’s something that in a Thor movie would work brilliantly, but in this movie is just a little too left of centre. (Whedon)
Based on interviews with John Whedon, writer and director of the film, it's understood that his plan was to integrate the individual backgrounds' of the characters. It wasn't the idea of the addition of a little background that left the fans disappointed; the problem was the approach. Nonetheless, the scenes appeal to most viewers and was a financial success.

Avengers Age of Ultron Press Tour: A Dramatic Trip Around the World

The Avengers: Age of Ultron  promotional press tour has finally come to an end, and our super heroes are exhausted.  Although the tour was a success, a lot of drama surrounded the cast as they swept from city to city.  From heated moments with nosey interviewers, to bashing a fellow female super hero, the Avengers did not fail to enrage the internet.  Just this past week Robert Downey Jr (otherwise known as Tony Stark) deliberately walked out on a british interviewer when asked about his past. Downey, who has been known to struggle with drug addiction, didn't expect to end up talking about his past trouble days. The interview was supposed to be about the new Avengers movie, but took a Dianne Sawyer turn when Krishnan Guru-Murphy appeared to be more interested in Downey's troubled past.  Krishnan grilled Robert on a quote he said many years ago about liberalism.  Downey was visibly uncomfortable as he obviously tried to steer the interview back on the right path.  "Are we promoting a movie?" Downey asked, expressing his aggravation. When Krishnan continued to pelt RDJ with questions about his past, Downey was quick to get up and walk out.  Downey's only regret was that he hadn't walked out sooner. (See video below).

Captain America and Hawk Eye also had some awkward interview moments. When Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner were asked about Black Widow's romantic relations with the men of Avengers, some degrading comments were shared.  Both Jeremy and Chris apologized a few days after. "I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way.  Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour," Renner stated apologetically.
It can't be an Avengers press tour without some good old superhero drama!

Is Ultron too good of a Villain?

The new movie Avengers: Age of Ultron hit all theaters on May 1st and has already made close to $200 million in box office. The movie is originally based on the famous Marvel comic books, and although ratings remain at a high four stars, many comics book fans found themselves disappointed by the portrayal of the characters. Viewers highlighted their problems with the main villain, Ultron. Highly trusted review websites have blatantly called Ultron a "really terrible villain" claiming that "he's a 'villain of the week' at best, and not even a very good one" (Kain). Ultron's character was presented to be a creation of Tony Stark and to have his same sarcastically humorous qualities. Fans reacted by voicing their opinions that the villain didn't do enough. Although viewers came to the theater knowing that the Earth's Mightiest Heroes always win, not at any point in the movie were the fans on the edge of their seat anticipating the possibilities of their downfall. Overall, the fans' expectations were not met because Ultron's character did not reach its full potential.

On the other hand, interviews with the writer and director of the movie, Joss Whedon, revealed after the release that he is pleased with the representation of his villain. Whedon's goal was to humanize Ultron's robot character, and it's ironic that the "too human" qualities of the villain's character is what has failed to appeal to the viewers. Nonetheless, the other intentions of Whedon were met. A unique villain was created and the movie has thrived, already passing the lifetime earnings of Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and Iron Man 2. Even if the fans disagree with some representations, Marvel has life-long fans that are still looking forward to the next movie.

The Avengers Age of Ultron: Review

The Avengers Age of Ultron took the movie world on a extravagant adventure this past weekend, grossing over 191.3 million dollars and claiming its place as the second largest domestic total in the USA.  The Avengers assembled for the second time on the big screen, accompanied by some new companions and a killer robot.  It was named the ultimate must-see movie of the year.  IMDb rated Ultron an 8.3/10 and Rotten tomatoes followed up with 4 stars.

So what makes Age of Ultron such a crowd pleaser?  Along with having an extremely adored and recognizable cast, the action movie brought the Marvel comics to life again, with a little more of a twist.  The first Avengers was remembered for its malicious villain Loki, and action packed fight scenes. This time around, the team engages in even more seemingly impossible fights with crumbling cities, towers, and not to mention giant robots. Another notable change is the addition of a few new superheroes.  Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch made their humble appearance on the screen, with some fairly cool moves.

Overall Age of Ultron has been impressively successful for its first weekend, and is expected to continue growing.  If you are looking for a movie of action, love, and explosions, Avengers Age of Ultron is a must see.
